Avoiding Calamity"The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, But the naive go on, and are punished for it." {Proverbs 22:3 NASB} "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." {1 Peter 5:8 NKJV} Satan will always have a plan to harm you. And he will always take advantage of any opportunities presented. Simply praying for protection, daily, is not enough. We also have a responsibility to walk wisely. It's important to foresee how present difficulties can become major problems in the future—if not addressed. Learn to plan ahead. "Each week, pray and strategize ways to overcome the evil you face."1 Be proactive; most people are simply reactive—and this is a disaster. Some things to consider and pray about:
God might answer your prayers in any number of ways. Praying in this manner helps you to think things through. And signals to God that you're open to His guidance and direction. Don't just pray for a particular result—God might say 'no' and then you'll miss out on a blessing. Seek out wise counsel, when available. Learn from your mistakes. We all make them.
