Dealing With Trials

Let's look at some Scriptures that apply to the trials and tribulations we all face in this life. These are basic Scriptures that apply to just about anything.

“Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (Psalm 55:22 NASB)."

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB)."

"For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear,
Nor has the eye seen a God besides You,
Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.
You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness,
Who remembers You in Your ways (Isaiah 64:4-5 NASB)."

"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You (Psalm 56:3 NKJV)."

"He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But he who walks wisely will be delivered (Proverbs 28:26 NASB)."

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14 NKJV).”

"Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 NASB)."

"For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV)."

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all (Psalm 34:19 NASB).”

Some commentary:

  • Painful, humanly impossible trials, are a part of the Christian life.
  • God will deliver you from each and every one.
  • Pray and wait for God to direct you.
  • Don't be deceived by demons, including demons pretending to be the voice of God.
  • Waiting on God is a prerequisite for God to act on your behalf. Not waiting on God is a great way of forfeiting God's help and, instead, making things worse.
  • Wise counsel from others, including other Christians, is highly recommended.
  • Sometimes, however, God will tell you to do something other than what people recommend.
  • Once things become clear, that's the time to act.
  • God's direction always comes in the context of relative peace.
  • Trust God with all your heart.
  • Don't rely on your own understanding—nothing is really hopeless when God is involved.
  • But do act wisely, no matter how much pressure you are under.
  • Never ignore or do the opposite of what you know God wants you to do.
  • God will carry the emotional burden while you wait—if you choose to trust Him.
  • Thinking about a problem, unnecessarily, amounts to taking the burden back—with predictable negative emotional consequences.
