How to Cast a Burden—Part 4
I had a situation, at church, where another Christian was irritable when asked a simple question. He was worshipping and did not want to be interrupted. I simply wanted to know whether or not the seat next to him was vacant. He may have misunderstood why he was being interrupted.
His response disturbed my peace. And this, simply, did not have to occur.
There were two biblical issues to be addressed here—not one:
- I needed to forgive him. {Matthew 18:21-35}
- I needed to cast my burden on the Lord. {Psalm 55:22}
I did make an effort to forgive him. It would have become a more serious issue if I didn't. However, I did not cast this burden on the Lord.
From then on, I would feel some emotional disturbance whenever I saw this individual at church. I would go to church hoping not to see him.
Finally, I decided to cast my burden on the Lord. I wanted this problem gone. I told God I'd do whatever He said to do or not do.
God simply carried the burden. And the problem is now gone.
