Praise and Anxiety"Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations (Psalm 100: 3-5 NIV)." Sometimes the solution to anxiety is really simple. So simple you just can't figure it out. You've forgiven anybody you may have been angry at. You've cast your burdens on the Lord. You've prayed in faith for God to remove the foothold. But you are still nervous and uncomfortable and have experienced no relief whatsoever. Today I had such a day. It was totally unnecessary. I now feel relaxed and even inspired to write. Why? I just chose to thank God for some of the blessings he has given me. I just started thanking God for a number of things and the anxiety immediately went away. Satan's foothold was eliminated! I've had plenty of personal experience with anxiety. I know how it feels. And I have no difficulty, whatsoever, understanding why some Christians go to their doctors to get psychotropic medication. But this is a big mistake. Psych meds are damaging to your physical health. They are damaging to your spiritual health. And, although they may provide temporary relief, they are, in the long run, damaging to your mental health as well. I can tell you, from clinical experience, that most clients on psych meds are not doing well. And never do get well. I know you want instant relief and that the Bible doesn't provide that. But God's plan is for you to learn to rely on Him and on His Word, the Bible. And you can't do better than God's plan for your life. Remember: "“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:30-32 NKJV).” |
