Getting Rid of Anger—Part 5

"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16 NKJV)."

I had another rude person I was struggling to forgive. The issue would keep coming back up.

One night, right before bedtime, Satan again brought the issue up. This was particularly concerning since I had to get some sleep so I could work the next day. I was not able to stop thinking about it, indicating that there was still a significant spiritual foothold.

The subject of fervent prayer came to mind. I had, earlier in the day, heard a sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley on the subject.

So I prayed, fervently, that God would enable me to forgive and break free.

It didn't take long for God to answer my prayer. I soon recognized that something supernatural had occurred and that I was now free. I was then able to go to sleep.

In this case, the relief I experienced was not a permanent solution; there was more I had to do to permanently break free of this longstanding issue. However, God provided what I needed at the time.

Fervent prayer is something no Christian should overlook when struggling with unforgiveness, or, actually, any issue.
