"The entrance of thy words giveth light (Psalm 119:130)."

Stopping Spiritual Attacks—Part Two

Recite Scripture.

"For the word of God is living and active . . ." {Hebrews 4:12 NASB}

Recite Scripture preferably out loud.

You can also recite partial Scriptures.

This will help you to discipline your thought life.

Examples follow.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." {John 14:27 NIV}

" . . . do not worry . . . " {Matthew 6:25 NIV}

"Be anxious for nothing . . ." {Philippians 4:6 NASB}

"Trust in Him at all times . . ." {Psalm 62:8 NASB}

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." {Philippians 4:13 NKJV}

"Be holy, for I am holy." {1 Peter 1:16 NKJV}

"I will set nothing wicked before my eyes . . ." {Psalms 101.3 NKJV}

". . . whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right . . . think about these things." {Philippians 4:8 NASB}

" . . . whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right . . . " {Philippians 4:8 NASB}

Reciting two Scriptures is especially effective.

Example:

  • "Do not let your hearts be troubled . . ." {John 14:27 NIV}
  • ". . . whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right . . . think about these things." {Philippians 4:8 NASB}

Commentary:

  • Reciting Scripture brings supernatural power to bear on the issue at hand.
  • Scripture, in of itself, has intrinsic power: It is 'living and active.'
  • Reciting Scripture, however, is more effective when combined with faith and obedience
  • Believe and do what you are affirming.
  • The advantage of reciting a short Scripture is that this can be done more often; it requires less effort.
  • This approach will work even if the thoughts are not the result of spiritual warfare..

Synopsis:

  • Memorize Scripture.
  • Recite Scripture, preferably out loud.

You will be pleasantly surprised how effective this is.
