The Mental Health Solution . com
"The entrance of thy words giveth light (Psalm 119:130)."

A Quick Start Guide

“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-32 NKJV).”

This article tells you what you need to know to get started.

First, get saved. This is always the first step. You can't make any progress until you first accomplish this.

Second, read the Bible every day—preferably in the morning. Read a full chapter of the Bible every day. For mental health and substance abuse issues, your reading should emphasize the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.

Look for information you can apply to your particular issues. In particular, it is essential that you forgive others.

Third, start listening to sermons and Christian testimonies. Recommended sermons and testimonies are available on the Videos section of this website.

Fourth: Don't spend a lot of time studying psychology or trying to apply it to your situation. Anything that distracts you from the Bible, for very long, will be detrimental to your making progress.

". . . your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." {1 Corinthians 2:5 NKJV}

Finally, as a general rule, don't use psychotropic drugs. Psychotropic drugs constitute a serious impediment to Christian spiritual growth. They make it impossible to learn to rely on Scripture to deal with Spiritual Warfare challenges. Read my article on psychotropic drugs for more information and possible exceptions.

More information is available on this website. But, if you're new to Christianity, this article gives you the basics to get you started.
